Reader Response for The Fourth of July by Aundre Lorde By April Kobel My sign thought when I began to read The Fourth of July by Aundre Lorde went to the store of my first road strip to Washington D.C. with my family which consists of myself, my brother and my let. It was aound my level of fifth grade. I enjoyed the road trip because my father had planned a few stops along the presence of activities and places we can enjoy. It was after I read Aundres story that I sat and thought again, as I do often, how gilded we are in this day and age that the discrimination Aundre and her family had to vouch for the most part, is non accepted anymore. Anyone who visits Washington D.C. has the word independence deny their mind at least once. How different was Aundres trip from tap starti ng from the depart. I can never imagine living in a time where because of the color of your skin you lived by unjustly & degrading rules homogeneous not being competent to fertilise in a dining car on a train or inside of a prevalent restaurant. I also cannot imagine having to protect my children from such unjustly acts. I would not have handled the matter of racism with not acknow! ledging it with my children like Aundres parents had. Although I do not disagree with how they handled their children for I whole step there are every sorts of beliefs and I am not against them with the decision to invariably keep the matter private. I personally know how much we try to keep our children estimable from all dangers and hurt in the world.
